On the River & Beach
The Myall River and the surf beaches beyond bring their own residents — egrets lifting off the shallows, dolphins working the channel, and shorebirds that own the sand at low tide.
You don't need to go looking. Sit on the deck long enough and the river brings the wildlife to you.
Birds of Prey
A pair of ospreys nest on a pole within sight of the house, and yellow-tailed black cockatoos pass through the she-oaks most afternoons. This is very much their river first.
Look up. Then look closer — the bush around Drift is better at hiding things than you'd think.
Bush & Dune
Wander the dunes at Mungo Brush and you'll likely spot a dingo before it spots you. Closer to home, echidnas turn up in the garden, and a pair of tawny frogmouths have a favourite tree they're convinced you can't see them in.
